Vets For Peace hosted a solemn memorial to honor the life and service of VA nurse, Alex Pretti February 06, 2026
Strong Buffalo:
We look around us today and see, this ice storm, this badness going on. I pray that we have the strength, to take another step forward to continue to grow, because Dakota means friendly people, our shortest prayer, Mitakuye Oyasin, the people, who in the face of mystery and unknown, try to be good relatives and understand, and live in a good way. So we need to be good relatives to ourselves and to each other. We must learn that that’s the reason we’re put here is to share in this world and this life, because it is ours and we are all a part of it together!
Ice under foot. Ice shooting at us. Ice is killing us. I’m calling it Federal Gov’t-cide. The chaotic world now is changing so much. We’re actually in an invasion and occupation. So all you non-Indians who’ve never been through that, this is what it feels like.
I really believe that it’s up to us and not them. That’s why desperate people are getting so desperate, because they’re losing control and trying to increase their power. And Yes… we’re gaining it. We are the owners of ourselves and this land. We just gotta be good. Gooder than we’ve ever been. We gotta learn to make that love, love more, and just stand up and live peacefully because we’re gonna outlive ‘em. Because as even your Bible tells you, the meek shall inherit the earth. Meek means you’re humble. You’re humble enough to know that a storm can kill you. You’re humble enough to know that you’re only a little bit of this big world. So we need to practice how to remember that.
Don’t be scared. We see what they are doing.
We need to be able to take care of the majority of people here in this country. They’re wasting the money on all this stupid stuff they’re doing with immigration, they’re violating our rights. We need to divert that money back to the people, the people of this country who need the money. We need the control of what is going on for us, by us.
The loud voices of hate and racism shouting
Masked unknown armies
Come here because we
Are blue as the sky
As woke as a pot of coffee
liberal and free,
who open doors to strangers
and feed those who are hungry
even if sitting at
the table there were some of fraud,
Intruders steps
Have been stepping on us
Here for over 250 years,
the shadows loom
the fear never has left
the weight of words
the deaths by legal means,
the massacres of genocide
He was Pretty; she was Good
nurse and poet
neighbors and Minnesotans
it was federal gov’t-cide.
No one is illegal on stolen land, but we are the United States celebrating 250 years of what they call the Americanization, but it really is the Indianization of us all. Everybody came to this land, the land of the Indigenous American Indians, and have lived. And, you know, that was meant to be. It’s the common destiny. It was prophesied and it’s predicted that other people were gonna come here. Everybody from every race is here and for a reason. And that reason is to learn how to live together in a higher order. We haven’t learned that yet. The time of the regular people and the common people is now. And we need to take over the land, our life, because we’ve all been breathing in this spiritual power of 10,000 years in this land, water and air, of what is called Minnesota. Everybody has gotten this power that’s why they are coming here to Minnesota, because we all have gotten this power inside of us, with out even realizing it, but like osmosis. We have all been born and raised and living it, we marry in it, and we’re walking down the street with it. We’re working with it. That’s why they’re coming here, they’re calling us progressives or liberals. We are human beings. That’s why they’re here in Minnesota, not because we’re so called lefties or terrorists or whatever names they’re calling us, but because they’re trying to drag down the movement of people growing up and evolving into what is the best human beings that we can be.
We need to remain calm, regardless of anything thrown at us, we need to be the best that we can be. This is our challenge, like Philando, George Floyd, Rene Good and Alex Pretti and all who have sacrificed their lives have shown us that we are innocent and good people and the American dream is alive in us all, because this is the Dakota homeland, from the beginning of time until the end of time. And this is where it is beginning.
